Determinacion de la infestacion de fitonematodos en plantaciones bananeras de Uraba, Colombia
    (1980) Jose Gomez Tovar
Determination of nematode infestations in banana plantations in Uraba, Colombia. 1979. Gomez T., Jos6. PMC - Zona Andina. Apartado aereo 5511, Call, Colombia.- In Colombia, In banana plantations of the region of Uraba, at the northwest part of the Department of An-tloqula, samples were taken from selected farms in that zone, in an area of approximately 3.000 hectareas planted of Cavendish banana. Samples were collected during the months of February and March 1979 and they consisted in soil, roots and rhizomes of the grand generation. These were taken from the middle of the shares and from the edge of the trench or the drainage channels. In each sample • was determined the population of phytonemato-des by the methods of Taylor and Loegering (roots) and Baermann plates (soil). The samples of. soil and roots resulted positive for Kadopholus similis and for Helicotylenchus multicinctus. In the roots different populations were found, from 500 to 420.000 specimens of R. similis and from 38 to 22.000 specimens of H. multicinctus. In the analyzed samples major differences in the populations of phytonematodes from those collected in the center of the share or from those of the edge of the drainage channels were not found.
