Item Mechanized harvesting, the need of coconut growers in India(2010) Kolhe, K.P.The continuous increase in the yield and production rate of coconut orchards has urged the need for mechanization of coconut harvesting in India. The average yield, production and area of coconut is increasing since the last thirty four years. The drudgery in manual coconut harvesting, lack of climbing labours and the operational and safety problems in availing manual climbers have necessitated the need for the mechanization of coconut harvesting. Coconut growers are facing practical difficulty in coconut harvesting due to the height of the tree. The tractor mounted hydraulic elevator (TMHE) developed by Dr. B. S. Konkan Krishi Vidyapeeth Dapoli is a fully automatic harvesting device for harvesting tall coconut .orchard. The further development and testing of this elevator is in progress. The coconut harvesting field capacity of the developed TMHE is observed as 4,524 coconuts/day.Item A Mechanized Tool for Mango and Coconut Harvest(2009) Kolhe, K.P.; Dhande, K.G.; Shahare, P.U.; Badhe, V.T.Tractor mounted hydraulic elevator (TMHE), a mechanized tool, has been developed and tested for harvesting of mango and coconuts. The exhaustive field-testing of TMHE on mango and coconut orchard was conducted on plane and sloppy land upto 20.5 per cent slope on University farm and farmers' field. The comparative study of available elevator for mango and coconut harvesting has been studied. The cost of TMHE is Rs 1,30,000. The observed field capacity of the developed TMHE is 2800 mango (700 kg) per day and 4,524 coconuts/day.
