Cultured immature panicles of cardamom formed plantlels directly without the intervention of callus or embryoids, on MS medium supplemented with 0.5 mg/1 NAA, O.Smg/1 kinetin, 1.0 mg/1 BAP, 0.1mg/l calcium pantothenate, 0.1 mg/1 folic acid and 10% coconut water. The stage of development of the explant and the growth regulators in the medium are the two major factors influencing the frequency of shoot formation in the immature panicle cultures. The transformation occurs due to the reversal of morphogenesis in the floral primordia into vegetative shoots.en_US
