| dc.description.abstract | Herbicide-based methods have come into use as partial or full .substitutes for tools lonfg used in limber stand establishment and management. Some are effective and economical, offering a way to improve resource productivity. Yet their environmental impacts are being questioned in much greater detail than were the practices they replace. This article describes some of the practices and examines some of the questions regarding the relative impacts of some analogous chemical and non-chemical methods. The choice of methods is considered as an active process that takes into account both the advantages and disadvantages of each option in management and social contexts. | en_US |
