The root (wilt) disease of coconut has caused an annual loss of over 340 million nuts in Kerala State and has spread to the adjoining Tamil Nadu State. The symptoms and diagnostic tests, etiology and management of the disease are highlighted. Effective quarantine measures are needed to prevent the movement of planting material from disease-prevalent to disease-free areas. Until effective control measures are developed the palms in the affected area should be rejuvenated and the disease contained within its present geographical limits.en_US
