Abstract
The factors influencing the growth of the fungus, Ganodermalucidum were studied in vitro. It was able to grow in a wide range of pH, from 2·0 to 9· 0, the maximum growth was at pH 5·5. Among the various nltrogen sources, studied, peptone supported the best growth. The fungus utilizes organic nitrogen only. Exccellent growth was obtained when maltose was the carbon source. In general the disaccharides supported good growth of the fungus. Formation of elongated , sporophores was noticed in saw-dust-malt medium or saw-dust , supplemented with waksmans medium. Mercuric chloride, captan , difolatan and vitavax were lethal to the fungus.
