A direct correlation between levels of Racfopholus similis population present in soil and growth and intensity of root lesions in arecanut (Areca catechu) seedlings was recorded. The nematode in combination with Cylindracarpon obtusis-porum caused more damage in inoculations where nematode was introduced three weeks prior to fungus. The fungus alone did not cause any appreciable damage. Nematode multiplication was Inhibited in the presence of fungus.en_US
