Several laboratories in India started research work on coconut tissue culture during late 70s. Coconut being a very difficult crop to manipulate in vitro, several problems were encounted during tissue culture of coconut. Different aspects of tissue culture including leaf tissues in vitro, inflorescence culture, plumule culture, ovary culture zygotic embryo culture has been elaborated in trie article.
