Among the less serious diseases, the bud-rot, bacterial leaf stripe, stem breaking, seedling diseases, and infection of processed arecanuts, occurls at times in serious proportions in some places and cause considerable damage. Over 40 pathogenic and non-pathogenic forms have been recorded in India.
