The results revealed that in arecanut garden with a recommended spacing of 2.7 x 2.7 m, 43 per cent of sunlight is available to other component crops. Pepper as a mixed crop did not influence the yield of arecanut and Karimunda followed by Panniyur-I were found to be suitable pepper varieties in arecanut garden. The highest yield of pepperwas observed with a spacing of 1.8 x 2.7m with Karimunda variety.
